Karkwa

Banda indie rock/pop/experimental de Quebec, formada em 1998 por Louis-Jean Cormier, François Lafontaine, Martin Lamontagne, Julien Sagot e Stéphane Bergeron. Têm em sua discografia três álbuns, o primeiro
“Le Pensionnat des Établis” lançado em 2003 e o ultimo “ Le Volume Du Vent” ano passado. Em uma entrevista ao RFI Musique o vocalista Louis-Jean Cormier fala sobre o titulo do novo cd: “Le volume du vent is an expression lifted from a work by the Quebec poet Pierre Nepveu which we used on another track on the album, Le solstice. We thought "volume of the wind" was a perfect summing-up of our new album which was inspired by a typical winter in Quebec. We wrote the material for Le volume du vent during the winter of 2007/2008 and a lot of songs on the album conjure up images of wintry landscapes. There are moments on the album where you have these sort of vocal flights of fantasy, just voices, no words, which sound a bit like the wind wailing at the window. When we were in the studio recording we could literally hear the wind whistling around outside!”.
A banda tem sido comparada ao Radiohead, porém com as letras das musicas em francês... Particularmente não vejo muita semelhança, mas se você se concentrar em achar essa tal semelhança poderá encontrar em poucos momentos, no cd mais recente. Porém não se limite a isso, experimente o Karkwa, a banda é muito boa, guitarrinhas distorcidas com pitadas de piano, violinos...Seguem os álbuns para degustação!
